18 month checkup (2 months late)

Wow - thanks so much for your comments on meal planning. It's really nice hearing what others do! I'd love to know some of your easy standby recipes. I wish I could tell you how the burritos turned out, but I actually didn't get a chance to make them Friday. We had friends over, so we (okay, Ryan) cooked something we knew would be good for a group. We'll have leftovers of that for several days, but I'll get to that recipe this week.

This past week Kerensa and I finally got in to the pediatrician for her 18 month check up. I delayed it in December because I wanted to get in the new insurance year, but the office got really backed up. Anyway, Kerensa's weight has definitely picked up. She weighs 21.10 pounds, which is still small but a greater gain than where she has been. She is 33 inches tall, which is about the 50th percentile. She is getting too tall for 18 month clothes, but the 24 month clothes seem way too big. Her development is great, and she either meets or exceeds expectations with her abilities. She does say between 5 to 10 words, and while I thought more would be expected at this stage, the pediatrician isn't worried. I was told the main thing is her ability to communicate, not necessarily using words. Kerensa definitely communicates, and it is easy to know what she wants.

She uses her pointer finger constantly; she will go get her bib if she's ready for a meal; and she will go pick out a snack and show you what she wants. She can point out all of her body parts and loves sharing drinks, food, and her pacifier with her stuffed animals. She's quite the little mommy with her baby doll and will dress/undress it continually throughout the day. She's also great with utensils and can eat cheerios in milk without too much of a mess. Here's a few recent pics:

I'm amazed by how fast she's growing!

I know it's hard not to compare her with other children her age. But the way I see it, if the pediatrican isn't worried, we shouldn't be either!

Hayley's tall too! She's already in 4T and her dresses are two inches too short!
